Uber Eats Partners With Zipline to Bring Drone Delivery Across the US

Uber and drone delivery company Zipline have announced a new partnership to bring autonomous drone deliveries to Uber Eats customers across the United States.

The first deliveries are expected to begin later in 2026 in markets where Zipline already operates, followed by expansion to dozens of additional U.S. cities. The companies aim to reach one million drone deliveries per day by the end of 2029.

How the Drone Delivery Service Will Work

Customers in supported areas will be able to choose drone delivery for eligible Uber Eats orders. Zipline’s autonomous aircraft will transport the order, with the company saying its system can complete some deliveries in around five to 10 minutes.

The partnership adds another autonomous delivery option to Uber’s platform, alongside traditional couriers, sidewalk robots and other emerging delivery technologies.

Zipline already operates autonomous delivery services across several markets and has worked with healthcare providers, retailers and restaurants, completing more than 2.7 million deliveries and having flown more than 135 million autonomous commercial miles.

For Uber Eats, the partnership could help make drone delivery available to a much larger group of customers. For Zipline, it provides access to Uber’s broad network of restaurants, retailers and consumers.

The growing use of autonomous delivery services could make drone delivery a more common part of everyday food and goods delivery.
