Fairphone Launches a Repairable Android Phone You Can Fix Yourself

Fairphone, a smartphone maker focused on repairable and longer-lasting devices, is launching the Fairphone (Gen. 6+) as its first phone officially sold in the U.S.

Fairphone Gen 6+

Built to be repaired and designed to last longer

The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) runs Android 16 on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 platform with 12GB of RAM. It has 12 replaceable parts that owners can swap using a single screwdriver. That includes the battery, while a microSD slot provides expandable storage of up to 2TB.

Fairphone backs the device with a five-year warranty and promises software updates through 2033, giving buyers the option to keep the phone in use for considerably longer than a typical upgrade cycle.

Other hardware includes a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display and a triple-camera system led by a 50-megapixel Sony sensor with optical image stabilization. Fairphone says the battery can last close to 53 hours on a charge.

More than half of the phone’s weight comes from fair or recycled materials, with 14 fairly mined or recycled materials used across the device.

The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) is priced at $649 and is available through Fairphone.com and Amazon.

For buyers who value repairability and long-term use, the Gen. 6+ adds another option to the smartphone market
