Adobe Premiere Comes to Android With Free 4K Editing

Adobe has released Premiere mobile for Android, bringing its mobile video editor to Google’s platform about a year after the app debuted on iPhone.

The free app includes a multi-track timeline for combining video, audio, text and effects, along with frame-accurate editing and exports at up to 4K resolution. Adobe does not add watermarks or ads to exported projects, and an Adobe account is not required for basic editing, local project storage or video exports.

Premiere mobile is designed to provide more control than a basic clip editor while adapting the interface for touchscreens.

Users can arrange multiple layers of video, music, voiceovers, text and effects on the timeline. Enhance Audio can reduce background noise and improve speech clarity, while templates, transitions and Adobe Stock assets provide starting points for social videos and other projects.

Adobe has also included Firefly-powered generative AI tools that can create images, video and sound effects from prompts. These features use Firefly generative credits and require users to sign in. Additional credits and cloud storage are available as paid upgrades.

The core editing tools remain free.

Android 13 and at least 5GB of RAM are required

According to the technical requirements, Premiere mobile supports Android phones and tablets running Android 13 or later with at least 5GB of RAM. Most editing tasks can be done offline, while cloud-based features, creative asset libraries and generative AI require Wi-Fi or cellular data.

On Android phones, the editing interface currently runs in portrait orientation while tablets support both portrait and landscape orientations.

Adobe says additional Android features are on the way, including improved captions, keyframes, Adobe Fonts, cropping, beat detection and the ability to continue projects in Premiere on desktop.

Premiere mobile is available through the Google Play Store for free and supports multi-track editing and 4K export without requiring a Premiere desktop subscription.
