Apple is scheduled to release a software update later today that introduces a redesigned Blood Oxygen feature for select Apple Watch models. Specifically, users of the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in the United States who do not currently have this feature will be able to access it after updating their devices.
To enable the new Blood Oxygen functionality, users need to update their paired iPhone to at least iOS 18.6.1, and their Apple Watch to watchOS 11.6.1. Sensor data from the Blood Oxygen app on the Apple Watch will then be measured and calculated on the paired iPhone, with results viewable in the Respiratory section of the Health app.
