Screen sharing is only works in video calls, not during audio-only calls. During sharing, video feeds from call participants appear beneath the shared content.
Do note:
- Screen sharing works only in video calls.
- Everything on your shared screen—including usernames, passwords, or messages—can be seen by the person on the call.
- WhatsApp displays a reminder if you attempt to share with someone not saved in your contacts.
- Sessions are end-to-end encrypted and are not recorded by WhatsApp.

How to Share Your Screen on Android
On Android, start or join a video call.
- In the call controls, tap More Options (three vertical dots)
- Select Share screen.
Choose one of two modes:
- Share one app → pick a specific app to show, or
- Share entire screen → broadcast everything visible on your device.
When you’e done, just tap Stop Sharing.
How to Share Your Screen on iPhone
On iPhone, start or join your video call.
- In the call toolbar, tap More (three horizontal dots)
- Select Share screen.
- When prompted, tap Start Broadcast to begin sharing.
To end sharing, tap Stop Sharing.
How to Share Your Screen on Windows
While in a WhatsApp video call on Windows, you can share by:
- Clicking the screen share icon
Choose whether you want to share:
- A specific application window, or
- Your entire screen
Once sharing starts, your profile image will appear as an indicator. Once done, click Stop sharing screen to end the session.
If you choose to share a specific window, it will only show while it os open. If minimized, others won’t be able to see it.

On Mac during a video call:
- click the Screen Sharing button in the call controls.
- Select the window or screen you’d like to share.
- Click Share to begin.
To stop sharing:
- Click Stop sharing within WhatsApp, or
- If you’re outside the app, click the purple screen-sharing indicator in the top menu bar and choose Stop sharing.
