Samsung Debuts Galaxy S26 Series With Expanded AI and Updated Hardware

Samsung Electronics announced the Galaxy S26 series at Galaxy Unpacked 2026, introducing its latest flagship smartphone lineup. The series includes three models: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra — featuring updated hardware and expanded AI capabilities..

The S26 lineup features a refined design with slimmer profiles and lighter builds across all models. The S26 includes a 6.3-inch display, while the S26+ steps up to a 6.7-inch screen. At the top of the lineup, the S26 Ultra features a 6.9-inch display and introduces Samsung’s built-in Privacy Display, which limits side-angle visibility to help protect on-screen content in public environments.

The design remains familiar across all three models. The S26 measures 7.2 mm thick and weighs 167 grams, while the S26+ comes in at 7.3 mm thick and 190 grams. The S26 Ultra is 7.9 mm thick and weighs 214 grams, making it thinner and lighter than its predecessor despite its larger display and camera system.

Battery life and charging speeds remain broadly consistent across the three models. Samsung lists typical battery capacities of 4,300 mAh for the S26, 4,900 mAh for the S26+, and 5,000 mAh for the S26 Ultra, with all three rated for up to 31 hours of video playback under Samsung’s testing conditions. Fast wired charging is supported across the lineup, with the S26+ capable of charging up to 69% in around 30 minutes and the S26 Ultra reaching up to to 75% in the same timeframe.

On the performance side, Samsung lists the S26 lineup as powered by a customized processor designed to support AI-driven workloads and demanding tasks. The S26 Ultra is available with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. The S26 and S26+ each come with 12 GB of RAM and offer storage options of 256 GB or 512 GB, depending on configuration.

Camera hardware remains a major focus, particularly on the Ultra model. The S26 Ultra features a 200-megapixel wide camera with an F1.4 aperture, paired with 50-megapixel telephoto and ultra-wide lenses. . The S26 and S26+ are equipped with 50-megapixel wide cameras, 12-megapixel ultra-wide lenses, and AI-enhanced Nightography features for photos and video. Low-light photographic performance is improved through wider apertures and AI-assisted image processing

AI features are more deeply integrated into the software experience. Samsung lists new and expanded capabilities designed to provide context-aware assistance and reduce manual interaction. These include Now Nudge, which surfaces relevant shortcuts based on on-screen activity, Photo Assist for AI-driven image editing using natural language prompts, and deeper natural-language support across Bixby. Galaxy AI features can be processed either on-device or in the cloud, with privacy controls managed through Samsung Knox and the Personal Data Engine.

The S26 series focuses on incremental refinements, emphasizing everyday usability, camera improvements, and AI-assisted features designed to blend into normal device use.
