Motorola has announced the “moto watch,” a new smartwatch developed in partnership with Polar. The watch introduces Polar’s health and fitness platform into Motorola’s wearable lineup and combines health tracking, basic smart features, with a design intended for continuous, everyday wear.
Health & Activity Tracking
The moto watch includes continuous heart rate monitoring, heart rate variability tracking, and activity tracking. Users can log steps, distance, and workouts while receiving daily activity scores. Inactivity alerts notify users when they have been sedentary for extended periods.
For outdoor activities, the moto watch includes dual-frequency GPS to support distance and pace tracking during activities such as running and walking.
Sleep tracking is also supported. The watch provides sleep stage data covering light, deep, and REM sleep. Recovery information is presented through nightly measurements that indicate how the body responded to activity and stress during the day.
The device features a 47mm round display with an aluminum frame and stainless steel crown. Motorola offers interchangeable watch bands in multiple finishes, with support for standard 22mm third-party bands.
It’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and carries IP68 dust and water resistance with a 1 ATM water rating. Motorola states that the watch is suitable for everyday exposure to water, such as rain or hand washing.
Battery life is rated at up to 13 days under typical usage conditions, or up to 7 days with the always-on display enabled.
The moto watch includes a built-in microphone and speaker, allowing users to place and receive calls when connected to a paired smartphone. Notification alerts and audio cues are supported.
The moto watch will be available in the Pantone Volcanic Ash color option beginning January 22 through Motorola’s official website. Availability, configurations, and pricing may vary.
For other regions worldwide, rollout will follow a different schedule, with pricing starting at $99. Some markets will also offer a higher-priced bundle that includes additional bands.
