Major insurance company Alfac has recently disclosed a cybersecurity incident affecting its U.S. network. This joins several other insurance companies that have also experienced similar cybersecurity breaches.
On a recent notice post on their website, they stated identifying suspicious activity within their network and quickly responding to contain the intrusion.
Potentially impacted files could contain health, claims information, social security numbers, and/or other personal information, related to customers, beneficiaries, employees, agents, and other individuals in our U.S. business. While they’ve confirmed that its core operations remain unaffected and no ransomware was involved, further analysis with cybersecurity experts to assist with their review is ongoing to determine the full scope of the impact
In response, the company is offering affected individuals free credit monitoring, identity theft protection, and medical support for two years, emphasizing their commitment to transparency, and will continue providing updates as more information becomes available
