In a recent announcement, LG Electronics revealed plans to cease support for several key services related to its mobile devices, including the Mobile Phone Software Upgrade (FOTA), Update Center, and LG Bridge. Users are advised to complete any necessary device upgrades before the services officially end on June 30, 2025.
Starting July 1, 2025, LG will no longer offer software updates or application downloads through its official channels for any of its mobile devices. This includes the termination of:
- Over-the-Air (FOTA) firmware updates
- The LG Update Center application
- LG Bridge, the PC-based management tool
Implications for Users
Users who rely on LG’s mobile phones, devices or software tools for device management and updates will need to complete any pending upgrades before the cutoff date. After service termination, devices will no longer receive official updates, and default applications installed during device initialization may no longer be downloadable or recoverable. Visit their support center article on updating your software.
LG assured that personal information collected for these services will be promptly deleted upon termination, except where legal or internal policies require retention.
While they haven’t announced specific plans for future device support or replacement services, users are encouraged to seek alternative update solutions or consider transitioning to other platforms for ongoing support. Learn more about LG’s official announcement here.
