LEGO SMART Play Brings Creations to Life with Interactive Technology

The LEGO Group has unveiled SMART Play, a new interactive platform that transforms traditional brick-building into a responsive, high-tech experience. Announced at CES 2026, the system promises to bring LEGO creations to life without the need for screens, blending physical play with cutting-edge technology.

The platform uses the LEGO SMART Brick, a compact, custom-designed chip with sensors, accelerometers, light and sound detection, a miniature speaker, and wireless charging. Along with SMART Tags and SMART Minifigures, LEGO creations can respond dynamically to interactions, producing sounds, movements, and other behaviors in real time.

SMART Play is compatible with existing LEGO sets, allowing builders to enhance their creations with interactive features. It encourages exploration, imaginative storytelling, and hands-on learning, blending creativity with technology in a screen-free environment.

The platform will launch in March 2026 with pre-orders available from tomorrow, January 9th through LEGO.com, LEGO Stores, and select retailers.

LEGO’s SMART Play shows the potential of embedding responsive technology into physical products, using sensors, wireless connectivity, and programmable elements to expand the possibilities of everyday objects and to inspire new approaches to interactive design.
