Google has rolled out an update to its virtual try-on feature tool that allows users to generate a full-body digital version of themselves using a single selfie. The feature is now available to U.S. shoppers through Google Shopping.
The update builds on the existing try-on tools which previously required full-body photos or relied on preset models. Now, users can upload a selfie, select their usual clothing size, and AI generates several studio-style images that can be used to preview apparel.
The system uses Nano Banana, an image-generation model from Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash family, to create the digital body representation. Users can save one image as their default try-on profile and use it across billions of product listings available through Google’s Shopping Graph.
Users can still choose to upload full-body photos or use diverse model representations instead of generating a personal avatar.
The feature reflects the continued integration of generative AI into consumer-facing platforms, particularly in e-commerce and personalized shopping experiences.
