Google Introduces New Pixel 10a With Focus on Durability, AI & Security

Google has announced the Pixel 10a, the newest addition to its A-series smartphones. Priced at $499, the device brings several flagship-level features into the mid-range category, with an emphasis on durability, AI-powered tools, and extended software support.

The Pixel 10a features a flat, minimalist design built with a recycled aluminum frame and recycled plastic back. It is available in four colors: Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian.

From a durability standpoint, the phone includes IP68 water and dust resistance and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on its 6.3-inch display.

Battery life remains a key feature, with Google estimating over 30 hours of regular use, significantly longer runtimes when Extreme Battery Saver is enabled, and improved charging speeds.

On the camera side, the Pixel 10a includes a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide lens, alongside computational photography features such as Night Sight and Macro Focus. Several AI-assisted camera tools previously limited to higher-end models are also now included in A-series like the Pixel 10a.

The device is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chip, enabling on-device AI features through Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. Additional tools such as call-handling features, spam call filtering, and Circle to Search are included by default.

The Pixel 10a will receive seven years of operating system updates and security patches, exceeding typical support timelines in the mid-range market. Google has also added Satellite SOS support to the A-series for the first time, allowing emergency communication when cellular service is unavailable.
