Today, over 250 million cars support Android Auto, with over 50 car models featuring Google’s built-in tech.
Gemini AI: Smarter Driving, Hands-Free
The standout feature in this update is Gemini, Google’s AI assistant designed to help drivers complete tasks without taking their hands off the wheel. From sending messages in different languages to finding restaurants along your route, Gemini works with Google’s apps to make tasks easier while driving.
Gemini Live: Your Roadside Assistant
And with Gemini Live, drivers can have real-time, interactive conversations to help with everything from brainstorming ideas to preparing for important meetings—all without touching a screen.
Google is also expanding its entertainment options for drivers, including new apps for games and video, perfect for moments when you’re parked. Plus, digital car keys are coming to more car brands, adding an extra layer of convenience and security with vehicle locking and unlocking right from your device.
These new features will be available soon in cars with Android Auto and Google-built systems, such as Audi, Volvo and Polestar and models like the Lincoln Nautilus, Renault R5, and Honda Passport. The official details will be announced at Google’s I/O 2025 event, scheduled for May 20-21.
