Google has officially launched its 10th generation of Pixel smartphones: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, also marking a decade of innovation in the company’s flagship lineup. The latest models feature a refined design, major upgrades in AI, improved camera systems, and a continued focus on helpful user experiences.
Maintaining the recognizable Pixel look, the Pixel 10 series brings an updated camera bar and a choice of expressive colors: Obsidian, Frost, Indigo, Lemongrass, Moonstone, Jade, and Porcelain. Recycled materials reflect Google’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.
New hardware features include Pixelsnap for Qi2 wireless charging and support for a new range of magnetic accessories. The Pixel 10’s 6.3-inch Actua display offers increased brightness, while audio improvements enhance media playback.
On-Device AI
All Pixel 10 models run on Google’s new custom Tensor G5 chip. Built in collaboration with Google DeepMind, the chip supports the latest Gemini Nano AI model, enabling a range of on-device AI features. These enhancements are designed to offer practical benefits, like faster performance, improved battery life, and more responsive multitasking.
Debutted is the Material 3 Expressive, Google’s updated UI with smoother navigation and more personalization options. A notable new feature is Magic Cue, which leverages on-device AI to surface relevant information or suggested actions in real time. For example, it can pull up flight information from your inbox during a call with an airline, or help you quickly find and share photos in chats—all while keeping your data private and secure.
In terms of software support, Google promises seven years of OS upgrades and security updates for the Pixel 10 series.
Camera Upgrades
Photography remains a central point, with the standard Pixel now including a 5x telephoto lens with fast autofocus and up to 20x Super Res Zoom. The new Camera Coach feature uses AI to provide live tips on framing and composition, making it easier for users to improve their photography skills.
The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL models offer a triple camera system and introduce Pro Res Zoom, allowing users to capture detailed images at up to 100x zoom. This isn’t just digital zoom—Google’s generative AI helps reconstruct details, aiming to deliver sharper results.
The Pixel 10 series is available for preorder now, with prices starting at $799 up to $1199 for the XL model, and a free complimentary year of Google AI Pro. All models will be available in stores and online beginning August 28.
