EVA AI, a relationship-focused role-playing application, has announced plans to open what it describes as the world’s first cafe designed for interactions with AI companions. The pop-up venue, called EVA Cafe, is scheduled to open this month in New York City.
AI companions are software-based conversational systems, typically accessed through web or mobile applications, that allow users to engage in ongoing text or voice conversations. While general-purpose AI chat tools such as Siri or ChatGPT are primarily designed for information retrieval and task-based assistance and also remember past context, AI companions are intended to simulate a personal relationship over time
According to the company, the minimalist-designed space with subdued lighting and single-guest sitting for a quiet, focused setting experience will allow visitors to reserve a table for one and attend with their AI companion via a mobile device. Each table will include a phone stand intended to support continuous interaction with the AI during the visit. The layout replaces traditional two-person seating with individual tables, reflecting the app’s focus on one-to-one digital relationships. EVA AI says the project is intended to extend AI companionship beyond mobile screens and into a physical environment.
EVA Cafe will operate as a limited pop-up experience. A waiting list for the New York launch is currently open, with further details on location and reservations expected to be released closer to the opening date.
Consumer-facing AI companion applications are growing and increasingly positioned as tools for conversation, emotional engagement, and role-play. While these interactions typically remain digital, the project reflects experimentation with how such experiences may translate into physical settings.
