Malwarebytes Online Threat Checks Now Available in ChatGPT

Malwarebytes has released a new ChatGPT app that allows users to check suspected scams directly within the chatbot interface. The integration makes Malwarebytes the first cybersecurity company to provide scam analysis and threat intelligence through ChatGPT’s app platform.

The feature allows users to submit potentially suspicious content for review during an active conversation, without switching to a separate security tool or website.

You can connect the Malwarebytes app through ChatGPT’s Apps section. Once connected, users can invoke it directly within a conversation. The new app supports multiple types of reputation and risk analysis, including checks of suspicious text, links, and domains against threat intelligence databases to identify newly registered domains and redirect behavior commonly associated with malicious activity

It can also check submitted phone numbers and compare against known scam and spam databases and provide contextual details such as carrier information and geographic origin. Email analysis focuses on domain reputation and patterns commonly associated with phishing campaigns.

The tool returns an assessment based on Malwarebytes’ threat intelligence data, identifying indicators commonly associated with scams or phishing activity and outlining potential risks.

Malwarebytes states that the assessments are informed by its continuously updated threat intelligence, which is used across the company’s broader security products. Users can also submit suspicious content through the ChatGPT interface, contributing to threat data that supports ongoing detection and analysis efforts.
