Payment processor BridgePay Network Solutions has confirmed in a status update on their website that a ransomware attack is responsible for a multi-day outage affecting its payment gateway and related services. The company shared updates through its official status page.
According to BridgePay, the incident has resulted in widespread service disruptions across its production and testing environments, including virtual terminals, reporting tools, APIs, hosted payment pages, and support systems. The outage remains ongoing, and no estimated time for full restoration has been provided.
BridgePay stated that it is working with federal authorities as well as external cybersecurity and forensic specialists, to investigate the attack and safely restore systems. Recovery efforts are still in the early stages due to the nature of the ransomware incident.
The company emphasized that no payment card data was compromised, noting that any files accessed during the attack were encrypted and that there is currently no evidence of usable data exposure. BridgePay also stated that at this time it does not believe integrators are facing an ongoing security risk, and will continue providing updates as forensic analysis and recovery efforts progress.
This incident reflects the potential impact ransomware can have on payment infrastructure and merchant-facing services, which often require diligent review and recovery efforts.
