Apple has announced a series of updates to Apple Fitness+ alongside new health research insights, reinforcing the company’s continued push into technology-driven wellness and activity tracking.
Apple shared new findings from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, analyzing anonymized data from approximately 100,000 participants over four years. The results suggest Apple Watch users tend to sustain increased exercise levels beyond the typical early-January resolution drop-off period.
Key highlights from the analysis include:
- Over 60% increased their daily exercise by at least 10% in early January compared to December.
- Nearly 80% maintained higher activity levels past mid-January.
- Close to 90% continued elevated activity through February and March.
The research comes from participants who opted to share Activity data and consistently wore their Apple Watch. The broader study—run in partnership with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the American Heart Association—includes over 250,000 participants in the U.S.
Focus on Consistency and Accessibility
Apple Fitness+, now available in 48 regions, is expanding with new structured multi-week programs designed to support sustainable routines rather than short bursts of intense training. New additions include:
- Make Your Fitness Comeback – 10-minute Strength, HIIT, and Yoga sessions structured across four weeks
- Build a Yoga Habit in 4 Weeks – Sessions focused on flexibility, stability, and stress reduction
- Back-to-Back Strength and HIIT – Combined 20-minute programs pairing cardio and strength
- Strength Basics in 3 Weeks – Fundamental training plan for beginners or returning users
Apple is continuing its Artist Spotlight workout series with music-driven sessions featuring Karol G and later Bad Bunny. The Time to Walk audio series returns as well, with upcoming episodes from Penn Badgley, Mel B, and Michelle Monaghan.
Apple and Strava are also introducing a special “Quit Quitting” challenge in January, rewarding Apple Watch users who log 12 workouts during the month with a digital badge in the Strava app. The collaboration reinforces Apple’s strategy of integrating fitness experiences across popular third-party platforms.
Beyond workouts, Apple emphasized Apple Watch’s broader role as a personal health and activity device powered by machine learning and advanced sensor technology. Features include:
- AI-enhanced workout tracking and detailed activity metrics
- Training load, cardio fitness, and recovery insights
- Sleep, heart health, cycle tracking, medication reminders, and environmental monitoring
- Support for third-party health and performance apps
Apple’s current watch lineup includes the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3, and Apple Watch Ultra 3, positioned across mainstream, value, and performance segments.
Apple Fitness+ remains priced at $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year, and is included in the Apple One Premier subscription tier.
By combining structured programs, research-based insights, and deeper platform integrations, Apple continues positioning Apple Watch as more than a smartwatch — increasingly as a personal health companion supported by data, services, and partnerships.
