Amazon’s Alexa+ AI assistant is getting expanded access with the new rollout of Alexa.com, a new web-based platform designed to let people interact with Alexa directly through a browser. The launch extends Alexa beyond smart speakers and smartphones, making it available across voice, mobile, and now desktop environments.
The web experience is currently rolling out to Alexa+ Early Access customers, allowing them to log in with an Amazon account and begin using the assistant online.
Alexa.com provides the same conversational AI features as Alexa+, but with functionality better suited to a full-screen interface. Users can:
- Ask questions and explore topics
- Manage personal schedules, reminders, and to-do lists
- Upload documents for organization and information extraction
- Control smart home devices from a dashboard
- Plan meals, coordinate shopping, and manage household tasks
- Continue conversations and access history across devices
Amazon positions the platform as a way to bring information and real-world actions into a single interface, combining chat-style AI with practical task execution.
The company has showcased several early use cases to demonstrate how the browser interface may be used in day-to-day life including meal planning with automated grocery list generation, uploading personal documents so Alexa can extract key information such as dates and appointments, and managing smart home activity alongside regular chat interactions. Users can also adapt recipes to dietary needs, organize shopping lists, manage entertainment recommendations, and view frequently used features through a navigation sidebar designed to make switching between tasks easier.
Alexa.com is currently available to Alexa+ Early Access users, with wider rollout expected over time. Early adopters can sign in with their Amazon accounts to begin testing the new web experience.
With AI assistants increasingly acting as central hubs for digital life, account security features such as strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, and careful management of shared device permissions will remain essential. The broader industry conversation around responsible AI, user transparency, and data governance is expected to continue as similar AI platforms evolve.
