MonitorSpaces

Independent workspaces for every monitor.

Windows virtual desktops switch all of your monitors together. MonitorSpaces lets you switch just the screen you’re working on while everything on your other displays stays exactly where you left it.

Keep chat, music, dashboards, documentation, or reference material fixed on one monitor while moving between projects and apps on another.

Change one monitor, not your whole desktop

You bought multiple monitors so you could keep different things visible at the same time. Windows’ built-in virtual desktops don’t really work that way: change desktops and the entire multi-monitor workspace changes with you.

MonitorSpaces gives each display its own independent set of workspaces.

For example, you might keep Teams and Spotify on your second monitor all day while switching your main display between development, email, research, and documents. The second monitor doesn’t move, resize, disappear, or switch along with it.

That’s it. It’s a small change to Windows that makes a multi-monitor setup behave much more naturally.

Built around your displays

Each connected monitor gets its own workspaces. Point to the screen you want to change and switch it independently with a keyboard shortcut or from the tray.

MonitorSpaces supports setups with more than two monitors, and windows keep their normal placement and state as you move between workspaces—including snapped, minimized, and maximized windows.

You can also move a window to another workspace or another monitor without rebuilding your layout.

Fits into Windows instead of replacing it

MonitorSpaces doesn’t replace Explorer, your taskbar, or the Windows desktop.

It runs quietly in the notification area and manages your workspaces using Windows’ normal desktop window system. The core app is event-driven, so when you’re not switching workspaces there is almost nothing for it to do.

Your workspace activity stays on your computer, and an internet connection isn’t required for normal workspace switching.

Useful wherever one screen needs to stay put

Developers can leave documentation, terminals, monitoring, or communication on one display while changing projects on another.

Researchers can keep source material visible while moving between browsers and notes. Office users can leave Teams or Outlook where they want them while switching the rest of their work. Operations and trading setups can keep dashboards fixed while other monitors change independently.

You don’t need a special workflow. If you’ve ever wanted to change one monitor without disturbing the others, MonitorSpaces is for that.
